Two artists, three cities, three perspectives: for the first time in the German-speaking world, cityscapes of Venice, London and Vienna by both artists are being shown in an insightful dialogue with each other. In addition to selected masterpieces by the famous veduta painters, the exhibition offers fascinating insights into the interplay of art, urbanity and society in the 18th century. Outstanding works by Giovanni Antonio Canal (1697–1768), also known as Canaletto, and his nephew Bernardo Bellotto (1721–1780) are the focus of the spring exhibition at the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
