The exhibition on the upper floor appeals to all the senses and presents a comprehensive retrospective of Chadwick’s pioneering oeuvre in a contemporary interpretation and juxtaposition with Raff’s current sculptural practice.
For the first time in over two decades, Helen Chadwick’s radical, sensual work is being shown in its entirety and placed in an updated context through dialogue with Liesl Raff.
In the exhibition, her works enter into dialogue with the younger sculptor Liesl Raff, whose sculptural practice also opposes stereotyping – particularly in relation to material, architecture and notions of the body. For the exhibition, Raff works with the concept of support – both linguistically and in terms of content – and creates a fluid setting: transitions between surface structures are made visible; anchors and connections, but also supports, allow the works to be experienced and sensually perceived.
