Drago Persic, an artist who grew up in Vorarlberg, refers in *Tiefer Schweb* to the deepest zone of Lake Constance – that layer of water where the dynamics of the surface have given way to a still, cool tranquillity. The artist’s oil paintings, presented in the *Bodensee* exhibition space, also exist at the intersection of drama and contemplative serenity. The central motif of the exhibition is the artist’s characteristic drapery. Persic captures the iridescent sheen of silk with masterful precision. The curtains, falling in soft cascades, break through the two-dimensionality and lend the smooth canvas a sense of three-dimensional depth.
