With this exhibition, the Leopold Museum continues its program of showcasing significant private and corporate collections. In 1994, the Austrian National Bank (OeNB) made a decisive financial contribution to the establishment of the Leopold Museum Private Foundation. This made the museum’s founding and success story possible. The exhibition “Premiere!” honours this long-standing connection and, for the first time, comprehensively showcases the impressive diversity of the OeNB’s art collection. The presentation offers a cross-section of key trends in Austrian art: it features works by well-known New Objectivity artists, such as Rudolf Wacker and Franz Sedlacek, as well as distinctive voices from the interwar period, such as Greta Freist and Max Oppenheimer. Through its art collection, the collection of historical string instruments, the Money Museum, and the Bank History Archive, the OeNB supports the Austrian art and cultural landscape.
