The exhibition at the Kunsthalle Wien is the most comprehensive overview of the contemporary Viennese art scene that the institution has organised in over a decade. Over a period of six months, as part of ‘Lives and Works in Vienna: Contemporary Art from Vienna’, over 130 artworks by 56 artists living and working in Vienna will be on display across all spaces at both venues in the Museumsquartier and on Karlsplatz, including painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, photography, performance, sound, film and video. First organised by the Kunsthalle Wien in 2000, the fifth edition of ‘Lives and Works in Vienna’ continues a long-standing tradition of celebrating Vienna’s vibrant artistic discourse and diverse artistic community. Curated by Daniel Baumann, Michelle Cotton and Monika Georgieva, the exhibition focuses on the city as a dynamic place of production and presents both new and recent works.
