7.6. – 15.09.2019; Linz.
Known for his radical gestural drawings: Otto Zitko.
Retro prospective, the title of the exhibition stands for a forward-looking look, developed and sharpened in past clashes. This is evident in the selection of works, which includes works from the early 1980s to current productions, as well as a wall drawing that the artist creates for the solo exhibition on site. Much of the work comes from Austrian collections. Otto Zitko’s work is always accompanied by a change of image carrier, drawing and painting material and includes early, impasto painted oil on canvas paintings, soot and glass work, wooden panels, large-sized aluminum panels and numerous site-related wall art.
Otto Zitko, born in Linz in 1959, studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. For his work he has received numerous awards, including the Otto Mauer Prize, the Prize of the City of Vienna for visual arts and the Cultural Award for Fine Arts of the State of Upper Austria.
