At the end of February, Camera Austria, together with Oliver Ressler, was able to hold the conference “Barricading the Ice Sheets”, which was attended by Nnimmo Bassey, John Jordan, Marta Moreno Muñoz, Steve Lyons of The Natural History Museum and Aka Niviâna.
The conference focused on lectures and discussions as well as a critical diagnosis of the devastating social and climatic effects of carbon capitalism. But in times of pandemic and “social distancing”, even the activist dynamics of social movements are succumbing.
“Barricading the Ice Sheets” is a research project by Oliver Ressler and is supported by the Austrian Science Fund. In autumn 2021 it will be shown in the form of an exhibition at Camera Austria.
