An exhibition at the MAK, which opens on 15.07.2020, is dedicated to the subject of bakelite. Bakelite, the first industrially produced, fully synthetic plastic based on resins, made possible the cheap mass production of everyday objects in an unlimited variety of shapes and new uses. As an icon of modern product culture, bakelite today also conveys the socio-political aspects of contemporary history. The exhibition shows the Bakelite Collection of Georg Kargl.
