Artemis roaming / Galerie Oberösterreichischer Kunstverein

(c) Artemis Roaming

15.10. – 11.11.2020.

The Oberösterreichischer Kunstverein presents an exhibition entitled “Artemis roaming”. The exhibition is a collaboration between Elke Auer and Daniel Hafner. One can see a lot of building rubble and raw plaster surfaces, which in the context of the environment creates an image of aggressive, destructive interventions, pointing to the fragility of the architecture and the history of the building, while the actual building fabric remains untouched. On the text level, in a form that refers to vandalism and tagging and “pollutes” the cultural space, space-filling stories of monstrous, unbearable, female tongues are told as intervention and attack on civilized, controlled architecture. The text fragments refer, among other things, to Echo, the girl without a door at her mouth, the poetess Sappho, Artemis, the goddess of hunting, the forest, the moon and guardian of women and children, and the change in meaning of the word Gossip.
