What a zoo! The mumok collection contains almost 500 works related to animals.
The curators Manuela Ammer and Ulrike Müller researched these holdings and designed the exhibition “The animal in you – creatures in (and outside) the mumok collection”.
The exhibition uses the popular appeal of animals to reflect on the nature of sex, hunger and affection, family and gender relations, socialization and domestication, and last but not least, the enduring impact of colonial history. Who takes who by the curb? Who clip whose wings? Who scratches whose stomach?
