Once again, Salzburg is under the sign of the crime novel. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Krimifest, the Literaturhaus announced a short crime novel competition to promote young authors in the German-speaking world between the ages of 18 and 28. The winners from 60 submissions will be presented by the jury – consisting of Friedrich Ani, Eva Rossmann and Tomas Friedmann.
Ellen Dunne’s “Unfollow Stella” by Patsy Logan will kick off the competition. Pippo Pollina presents his debut novel “DerAndere”. Ursula Poznanski takes police officer Fina Plank to the Burgtheater and the Salzburg Festival with “Böses Licht”. Thomas Raab has his wife Huber investigate for the third time in “Peter kommt später”. Heinrich Steinfest sends Mrs Wolf and Cheng to Australia in “Gemälde eines Mordes”.
On the second evening, Friedrich Ani reads from “Kommissar Süden und der Luftgitarrist”. In Tatjana Kruse’s new crime novel “Strippen statt sticken” (Stripping instead of embroidering), her investigator Siggi Seifferheld becomes involved in a particularly salacious case. Greek author Petros Markaris presents his book “Das Spiel mit der Angst”. Andreas Pflüger presents his exciting agent thriller “Wie sterben geht”. At Eva Rossmann’s, Mira Valensky and Vesna Krajner investigate again in “Fine Dying”.
Finally, Bernhard Aichner sends his readers to the Tyrolean mountains in “Bildrauschen”. In Zoe Beck’s “Memoria”, her protagonist is plagued by strange memories. In “Nachtschein” by Seraina Kobler, Rosa Zambrano of the lake police finds a charred corpse of a young woman during fire-fighting operations. In “Beautiful Monsters” Wilfried Steiner takes the reader to the research centre CERN. Jan Costin Wagner reveals the monstrous double life of his criminal investigator in his book “Einer von den Guten”.
