In the current exhibition, young positions enter into a direct dialogue with exhibits in the MAK that are over 100 years old.
Students of the Transmedia Art class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, under the direction of Jakob Lena Knebl, have been working intensively with the Vienna 1900 Permanent Collection and reacting to objects from the Arts and Crafts movement, the Wiener Werkstätte or by Adolf Loos and Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky. Their critical approaches and ideas inspired by the collection find expression in ceramics, drawings, textile works, musical pieces and installations. As temporary interventions in the exhibition rooms, they give rise to new associations with Viennese Modernism.
