This is Katherine Bradford’s first comprehensive institutional exhibition in Europe, which is on show at the HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark, curated by Sandro Droschl.
The show presents fifteen key works from the last decade from New York collections, with the artist also showing a cycle of twenty-three new paintings produced especially for the exhibition. In her concise works, Bradford has been developing a very personal and continuous story about painting for decades, which she tells in ever new and different variations, in order to elevate it to a previously unseen level of the interplay of form, colour and light towards “her” mysteriously present bodies, especially in recent years.
Her art stands for an irrepressible and critical humanism that is worth remembering in complex times like these.
