The depletion of natural resources and our relationship with nature are thematized in Pavlo Makov’s sculpture “The Fountain of Exhaustion”. The Ukrainian contribution to the Biennale di Venezia 2022 attracted a great deal of attention and became a symbol of Ukrainian resilience. The work has already attracted a great deal of international attention in Venice after it was brought to Italy from the war zone under the most difficult conditions. The artwork originated in Kharkiv in the 1990s, a time when the city was often plagued by water shortages and political and social exhaustion had spread throughout Ukraine.
