“Who are you: Styria?” is an extensive project comprising 50 museum artefacts and hundreds of stories about the people, cultures and regions of Styria, told by the employees of the collections themselves. The diversity of Styria’s cultural heritage and the Styrian collections can be seen in the exhibition, the catalogue and the 50 films.
Company histories, stories about objects belonging to local personalities, stories of migration, stories of relationships from religious life, evidence of our diverse natural landscape and the effects of human intervention, archaeological finds, artistic works, objects from everyday life and leisure, technical objects and, finally, evidence from what was probably the darkest chapter of the 20th century, the National Socialist era, were submitted and reviewed by a jury.
The exhibition, curated by Alexandra Riewe, is part of or a follow-up project to the project of the same name, which will be realized by Museumsforum Steiermark in 2022-2024. The 50 object stories honoured by the jury will be exhibited in detail and presented to the public as part of the exhibition in the Folklore Museum.
