New aesthetic perspectives on dance and performance take centre stage at the annual festival for young talent. Full of quiet ecstasy and loud tenderness, the artists at the Rakete Festival deconstruct our experience of time with choreographic dedication to the entanglement of body and sound. In intimate settings away from functionality and spectacle, they create moments for attentive watching and open listening – and in doing so create spaces in which the view from outside seems absent, much like in one’s own home.
Between chairs, spotlights and loudspeakers, the artists embark on a search for places of retreat and question their origins; in sprawling piece lengths or transgressive acceleration, with slow gestures and erupting postures, as a rough noise concert or choral composition, in dark séances and dazzling images, they try out new aesthetic perspectives on dance and performance. Rakete is dedicated to these ambivalences and invites you to linger in resistance, also in the supporting programme – consisting of listening sessions, readings, workshops and a lecture with a Marxist view of the climate catastrophe, after all, this planet is home to us all.
The supporting programme will be organised by adO/Aptive, Isabelle Edi / isocialbutterflyy, Matthew T. Huber, Plot Toy, Prosopopoeia and Lauryn Youden.
