Wilderness or nature is usually associated with the endless expanses of large countries, but there are also small oases in the urban environment.
The images in the exhibition Rewilding the City document photographic research into wilderness in urban spaces. It is about human and non-human participants, about long-term developments and brief encounters, about harmony and conflict. We are interested in how boundaries between the human and the “wild” become visible and how they dissolve.
On show are pictures by Josip Artuković, Daria Balova, Tetiana Borys, Erwin Burgstaller, Helga Chibidziura, Eva Durovec, Georg Enzinger, Gertraud Enzinger, Gertrud Fischbacher, Antonia Friedl, Nick Gladkiy, Egor Guschin, Lila Herderberg, Daniel Hermes, Josef Hofer, Ilse Hollerer, Mariia Horshkova, Beate Katschnig, Reza Kellner, Christine Kipper, Aleksandra Kolodziejczyk, Mara Koschar, Veronika de La-Mol, Marike, Lukas Meixner, Eva Mohringer, Yurii Naumovych, Ognjen Persoglio, Maksym Romenskyi, Sigrid Schönfelder, Polina Schumacher, Bernd Sieber, Reinhard Sock, Margit Sommer, Christian Strobl, Peter Wagner, Livia Weidl, Karl Wratschko and Karl Zenz.
