The 5th district of Graz, Gries, is considered one of the focal points of the Styrian capital. But not quite rightly so. Under the motto ‘A district better than its reputation’, the Grieskram neighbourhood festival is being held again this year. For several years, artists who are active at the Lendwirbel neighbourhood festival have found that the district of Gries also has a lot to offer and can also show this. Initial discussions soon turned into a concrete plan: a neighbourhood festival in the Gries district. A name was quickly found that perfectly captures the diversity and charm of this district of Graz, which is sometimes sold a little short: Grieskram. The declared aim is not only to cooperate with local restaurants or artists, but also to give residents the opportunity to participate in the planning and design of this neighbourhood festival from the outset. From kebab stalls to art associations, people can dance, sing, discuss, listen, eat, laugh and celebrate together.
