Barbara Höller is a visual artist specializing in conceptual painting, objects and spatial interventions, but sometimes also works with photography or video. Her artistic interest lies in the individual or social experience of space, which she deals with through strictly abstract forms and in whose conception rules are followed or varied. The principle of repetition in her works, which can be seen as a multiplication factor, has a counterpart in the reproduction and duplication possibilities of photography. Barbara Höller defines the repeated execution of the same instructions as a necessary condition for the production of the artworks. However, the work steps are not carried out in the same sterile environment, but within one and the same workpiece, which only receives its final form after a certain predetermined number of repetitions.
