If one wishes to categorise Sabine Aichhorn’s works, they can be classified as geometric abstraction in the broadest sense. When looking at her pictures, the impression of seriality could arise at the highest level of perception: There is a reservoir of geometric figures, often triangles, which divide up the squarely organised pictorial space and slide into each other or layer on top of each other. The colour palette alternates between different shades of blue – indigo, cobalt and turquoise – gradations of red through to orange, streaky brown nuances and occasional yellow accents. Inclusions of white and black act as a contrasting foil and create creative frictional heat. A classic definition of this artistic style is that the painting completely dispenses with representational content. The focus is on the interplay of colours and shapes.
