Anyone who follows the media, be it newspapers, radio or the internet, is literally bombarded with horror stories every day: Wars, refugee flows, pandemics, weather disasters, polluted seas and soil, contaminated drinking water and, last but not least, empty state coffers: Experts are talking about a polycrisis – everything out of control?
It is possible to respond to the seemingly out-of-control and uncomfortable polycrisis of our time with a certain degree of ambivalence tolerance: i.e. with the resilient ability to seismographically perceive diffuse uncertainties and perceived threats, but also the uncertainties and ambiguities of a time, to analyse them, react responsibly to them, become active and, last but not least, transform them creatively – also in order to remain emotionally capable of action and productive in the end. This also characterises contemporary artists in particular, who approach the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence with open curiosity, critical reflection and creative experimentation.
