Paul Albert Leitner has now been working for four decades on a photographic oeuvre that combines a wide variety of genres: still lifes, architectural photographs, self-portraits, city and landscape photographs stand side by side on an equal footing. In addition, there are countless collages that show Leitner as an attentive and perceptive chronicler of everyday life. Over the years, an extensive body of work has been created, which the artist meticulously archives and links to accompanying notes and ephemera of everyday life. In his solo exhibition at Camera Austria, curated by Christina Töpfer, photographs by Paul Albert Leitner are brought together with the faits divers he has collected, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the artist’s (pictorial) cosmos. Not least, this gives an impression of how the artist’s subjective photographs can be located in the world as he sees it and what insights into political and everyday developments and transformation processes can be read from them.
