The current exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien is a retrospective of the French artist Nicola L.; it includes sculptures, performances, paintings, collages and films created between 1964 and 2014 and brings together loans from public and private collections in Europe and the USA. Presented in collaboration with Camden Art Centre, London; Frac Bretagne, Rennes and Museion – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bolzano, it is the first comprehensive show of Nicola L.’s work in Europe and the first monographic exhibition dedicated to her work in Austria. The exhibition also features films by the artist, a medium she began using in 1977. A series of documentary films deal with a wide variety of topics, including the activist Abbie Hoffman, the punk rock band Bad Brains and the Chelsea Hotel, where Nicola L. lived between 1989 and 2017.
