The sculptural, installative and performative practice of the Colombian-Dutch artist and composer Natalia Domínguez Rangel centres on the relationship between sound, space and material. The artist understands listening as a physical and political act. She combines sonic sensitivity with questions of bodily autonomy, solidarity and acoustic agency. Her works focus on phenomena that are often ignored in the hegemonic sound space. During her residency entitled ‘Wet Noise’ at Bildraum Studio, Natalia Domínguez Rangel plans to develop a new series of sculptural sound objects for her upcoming solo exhibition at Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle in 2026. The preparation process includes metalwork, casting processes and the sonic composition and digital preparation of immersive sound installations. Domínguez Rangel’s sound practice focuses on the invisible – on everything that can only be recognised through attentive listening. At the same time, she creates watercolour drawings in the Bildraum Studio as an extension of her artistic vocabulary.
Natalia Domínguez Rangel is also planning several events, including film screenings, an immersive sound healing session and a collaborative event with the Viennese women’s collective laschulas, of which she is a member.
