In her photographic and installation works, Innsbruck-born Nicole Weniger explores the relationship between body, space and memory. Her works presented at Bildraum Bodensee show landscapes of upheaval – deserts, glaciers, oases. At the centre are improvised architectures, textile shells and symbolic objects that make questions of belonging, retreat and transformation visible. The Homes series forms the starting point: temporary dwellings in inhospitable areas that are both a shelter and a projection surface. Nicole Weniger’s works unfold through reduced settings that span associative interstices – between desire and defence, surface and depth, intimacy and distance. In the interplay of material, gesture and atmosphere, Nicole Weniger creates resonance spaces in Die Sinnlichkeit (The Sensuality) somewhere in between, in which the boundary between the visible and the remembered or the imagined dissolves.
