In the exhibition ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’, Corinna Antelmann and Susi Jirkuff present an unusual concept that plays with surreal and profound themes. Inspired by Kubin’s drawings, in which monsters or creatures of darkness cavort, and based on a fictional story from the novel ‘Barcelona Dream’ by Corinna Antelmann, a film will be produced especially for the exhibition that deals with the interplay of nature, growth and change. Using cutout and layering animation, film sequences and collages are created from texts, graphics and photographs that play with a world of their own in the trees. What if this parallel world were to be colonised? Is the new society a better one, or does it fail, as in Kubin’s novel ‘The Other Side’? Text fragments, projections and drawings are also shown in the exhibition space, which continue the narrative and the images in the sense of an overall installation.
