In his work, Vorarlberg-born artist Emmanuel Troy deals intensively with the history of painting and sculpture. Modern, avant-garde and contemporary trends as well as religious art and genre paintings exert a great influence on him. His works often reflect nature, interiors and personal impressions. His influences include artists such as Wilhelm Busch, Carl Spitzweg and Honoré Daumier, who worked with the everyday and the comic, as well as Arnold Böcklin and Caspar David Friedrich, whose romantic atmospheric paintings characterise his own work.
