The Civa media art festival highlights the interplay between current technologies, realities and experiences in digital, physical and hybrid spaces. This year’s edition focuses on the world of quantum physics as part of the festival and exhibition. After more than a hundred years of research in quantum physics, the universe today appears neither deterministic nor fully comprehensible. At the microscopic level, matter is subject to principles that defy classical logic: particles can exist in multiple states simultaneously, their properties arise through interaction, and through entanglement they remain connected across light years. Quantum research has shaken the previously accepted distinctions between subject and object, perception and matter, and self and other. In a world marked by ecological crises, technological disruptions and epistemic breaks, these findings are also echoed in contemporary art. The Civa media art festival is jointly organised and developed by Belvedere 21 and sound:frame.
