At the beginning of its long history, the editorial office of the magazine ‘SALZ’ was based in the Traklhaus. Reason enough to return here for the anniversary with a presentation; the first issue of SALZ went to press in 1975, and for 50 years it has been promoting literature, supporting authors and showcasing the Salzburg literary scene. With over 1,400 authors and visual artists published to date, SALZ has also established itself as an interdisciplinary medium. The exhibition ‘SALZ. 50 Years of Literary Magazine’ presents the history of the magazine in its 200 issues as a richly interrelated history of literature and visual art. The artist collective ALPINE GOTHIC adds a new position in salt dough. The exhibition also presents the special anniversary issue of SALZ: the literary magazine as an object to touch and leaf through grows into the space, sheets of paper spread out, inviting visitors to read. Over 30 authors have combed through the SALZ archive of the last 50 years and respond to their findings from old issues with new texts.
