The travelling exhibition on the life and work of Austro-Brazilian architect Clemens Holzmeister opened at the library of Universidade Positivo in Curitiba. At the same time, an academic round-table discussion was held on Viennese Modernism and its influence in Brazil. During the specialist lectures given by Brazilian architecture professors, exciting new research findings on Holzmeister’s influence on Brazilian star architect Oscar Niemeyer were presented; For example, elements of the crematorium at Vienna’s Central Cemetery can be found in Niemeyer’s unfinished buildings in Tripoli, Lebanon, as well as in the floating angels in the Cathedral of Brasilia, which were created by the artist Alfredo Ceschatti, who worked closely with Niemeyer. The exhibition will be on display in Curitiba until 20 October before moving on to the Colono Museum, housed in the former Holzmeister family home in Santa Leopoldina, where it will remain on permanent loan.
