The 2025 folk.art Festival programme features 18 events at 10 venues with music from four continents. This year’s festival is dedicated to a very special theme: ‘Shadow and Light’ These are not only natural phenomena, but also powerful symbols that remind us of the contrasts in human life. This duality between shadow and light is also the leitmotif of this year’s edition.
The festival is a place where artists from a wide variety of backgrounds come together to tell their stories and share their music with the audience. For example, the British duo Fran & Flora will be performing an impressive concert followed by a Klezmer workshop in Graz. As usual, the festival will kick off with a special edition of folk.art-Acoustic, where the local music scene will present its music to the Graz audience. The duo Quetsch’n’Vibes and oud player Sina Shaari will perform at the theme day at the Austrian Open-Air Museum in Stübing. At the same time, visitors can learn more about life in the past at educational and craft stations.
This year’s venues are once again the Heimatsaal in the Volkskundemuseum, the Dom im Berg, the Murinsel, the Kultursalon and the Brücke Graz.
