With Rendezvous extended: After Laughter, Schaumbad presents a group exhibition that focuses on the moment after laughter. Humour, irony and absurdity are not an end in themselves, but rather starting points for exploring the fragile tension between lightness and seriousness, between pleasure and vulnerability. The exhibition at Schaumbad combines the Wu-Tang Clan’s song Tearz with Helmuth Plessner’s reflections on laughter and crying. Joy and sorrow, loss of control and intimacy, absurdity and vulnerability – this is where the body begins to speak where words end. The project is part of a collaboration between Schaumbad and art quarter budapest. It opens with the performance Preparing Tears by Beáta Szabó and opening words by Bernadette Laimbauer.
