Vienna Art Week invites you to discover the impressive diversity of Vienna as a city of art. Since its inception, Vienna Art Week has developed into one of the leading art festivals in the Danube region and established itself as a central platform for the Viennese art scene.
A unique collaboration between museums, galleries, art universities, artists’ associations and independent art spaces has resulted in a week of art, exchange and inspiration. The former ORF broadcasting centre on Argentinierstraße in the 4th district will be this year’s festival headquarters. Since the 1930s, the building has been at the intersection of education, exchange and political influence. This makes it a historic location that perfectly fits this year’s festival motto, LEARNING SYSTEMS.
The 21st Vienna Art Week deals with systems of all kinds: we live in systems, learn from them and actively shape them – from ecological cycles and oral traditions to artificial intelligence and digital archives. But who creates the systems, who controls them, and who has access to them? The exhibition HOUSE OF LEARNING SYSTEMS at the Funkhaus, curated by Robert Punkenhofer (artistic director of Vienna Art Week) and Işın Önol (co-curator of Vienna Art Week), features international artists and positions from Vienna in a historic location away from the classic white cube.
