In addition to the annual 5-day festival in summer and the Halloween event, ALPINALE hosts a special Christmas screening outside the competition. The lovingly curated programme takes viewers on a journey through international short film productions with a Christmas setting. Curator Andreas Künz emphasises that the selected works are deliberately set outside the familiar festive clichés. The films show Christmas beyond the usual Hollywood images, in its many facets and nuances, and open up new, touching perspectives. The six films, each ten to twenty minutes long, tell moving and atmospheric stories. The Christmas Short Film Magic features festive, funny and thoughtful short films that capture the Christmas season in all its facets. This event is organised as a charity event, with all submission fees, ticket sales and other proceeds donated to a local charity partner – The Hour of the Heart.
