Comparisons have a long tradition at the Kunstforum Montafon and offer artists an excellent opportunity to redefine and reposition themselves. It is always very exciting to see how the two personalities react to each other artistically and then jointly to the exhibition space. In this way, they create a field of tension in which the quality of their art can unfold to its full potential. Bianca Pho’s interdisciplinary and cross-media practice, particularly in the fields of sculpture and drawing, explores socio-somatic relationships and interdependencies that connect humans with material forms, machines or other organic bodies. The new works for the Kunstforum Montafon are a continuation of the existing work ‘Within Constellations,’ a walk-in, floating spatial assemblage. The installation stages a broken system that oscillates between technical function, geological materiality, and archaeological traces. Markus Proschek’s installations and paintings – often created using elaborate trompe-l’oeil techniques – deal with themes relating to the relationships between aesthetics, history and ideology. By emphasising the fragmentary, the dispositives of (contemporary) history are questioned and replaced by an unstable sediment of layers, planes and references.
