With its first fashion project, ‘Threads of Connection – Designing Opportunity – Empowering Youth Through Sustainable Fashion’, the Pretoria Cultural Forum is laying the foundation for a new collaboration between Austria and South Africa in the field of fashion and design.
Austrian designer Goran Bugarič will spend ten days working with South African fashion designers, fabric producers and young talents: The programme includes exchanges, workshops and joint studio sessions. The grand finale will be a pop-up fashion show on 4 December in the creative environment of the Keyes Art Mile in Johannesburg. Together with Wanda Lephoto, Siyababa Atelier and Cult Moxie, the designers will present their new and jointly developed collections there. ‘Threads of Connection’ shows how fashion acts as a connecting element and how creative visions open up sustainable perspectives and opportunities for young people across borders. The project focuses on international cooperation, artistic innovation and cultural exchange, highlighting Austria as a diverse fashion design country.
