Christian Eisenberger consistently eludes the classifications of art history and the art market, pushing artistic media far beyond their boundaries. His works, often temporary interventions in urban public spaces or remote landscapes, raise existential questions, particularly about the climate crisis. In his interventions in forests, waters or mountains, he puts words into the mouths of natural elements by arranging leaves, cones, stones, mushrooms, pieces of ice … into dark comics or memes. In the transience of their existence and their composition, they represent both the fragility of the prevailing order and the inevitability of change. Sometimes the artist himself appears in these land art interventions, almost in the tradition of the folk culture Grassteufel, as an element that subversively and performatively assimilates itself into the environment…
