‘Entertainment with attitude’ instead of shallow comedy is the motto of the MotzART FESTIVAL. The best cabaret artists perform their latest programmes. In addition to established stars, the festival now also offers a stage for newcomers. The furious PCCC*, the first politically correct comedy club, has been an integral part of the programme for several years. The festival sees itself as a warm host for artists and guests, a meeting place for satire, criticism and entertainment. This year’s MotzART FESTIVAL offers an intensive week of cabaret with seven Salzburg premieres: Florian Scheuba counters the absurdities of the present with humour and proves that laughter is the best form of self-defence. We eagerly await Christian Dolezal’s second solo cabaret. The sixth Salzburg edition of the PCCC* brings queer cabaret to the city of Mozart. Maria Muhar slides between dark humour and existential urgency in a ludicrous reflection on our times. Hosea Ratschiller finds bright words for dark times. Luise Kinseher finally comes solo as ‘Mary From Bavary’ and ‘His Severinity’ Severin Groebner combines social criticism with a healthy dose of megalomania to mark his 30th stage anniversary.
