Despite massive budget cuts, a total of 17 new films from eight countries will be presented at the Latin American Film Festival in 2026. For the first time in the film festival’s 30-year history, Brazil stands out as the focus country: six films come from this country, including the opening film O AGENTE SECRETO, a gripping political thriller set in 1977 during the military dictatorship. As this year’s festival is an anniversary edition, seven additional favourite films – known as ‘Perlas’ – have been selected from the festival’s 30-year history. These films have been real highlights over the last 30 years and have also been very well received by audiences. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to rediscover one or two film classics.
