nextcomic – Austria’s unique comic festival – invites visitors on a journey of discovery through the world of comics in 2026. Fans of graphic arts can explore comics, graphic novels, children’s comics and art comics, as well as related genres such as illustration, cartoons and animated films. This year’s theme is My decision – your decision!
At the Ursulinenhof festival centre, national and international comic art is spread over three floors. In 2026, a wide variety of works by 200 artists will be on display. Exhibition venues in Linz, Traun and Steyr are also part of the festival programme and offer events, workshops and nightlines in addition to the exhibitions.
On the opening evening at the Ursulinenhof, there will be a tour of the festival centre after the opening. Artists will be present to talk about their exhibition contributions and sign books at the Pictopia stand.
Suuuper Saturday invites visitors to attend lectures and visit artists’ presentation and sales tables. Workshops and drawing tables invite visitors to join in. The exhibitions can be explored independently or with free guided tours. Manga artist Yureida. K will kick off the festival with a live drawing. Afterwards, the Synergy Dance Crew will rock the stage with their energetic moves. The festival will be rounded off with the Online Comic Symposium, where national and international comic luminaries will share their knowledge.
