Following drastic cuts, the organisers have decided with a heavy heart to discontinue the festival in 2025. However, there are sometimes positive surprises: after the festival, a small multi-year grant has now been secured after all. The downside is that it is unfortunately not enough for an entire festival – but it is enough for a few nice things that can make a difference in Graz. The first series in the new arthouse cinema programme will be the ‘Krimibingo’ format, which will be launched in 2026. Six times a year, Cinema Talks invites audiences to interactive cinema evenings where they watch an Austrian crime film together and actively participate in solving puzzles, recognising motives, anticipating twists and turns, and interacting with the film in a playful way. With this format, we want to encourage young people in particular to watch Austrian films at the cinema and participate interactively in cinema screenings. Alongside Krimibingo, there is a second programme strand at the arthouse cinema: ‘Bring your Hobby to the Cinema’ (every first Wednesday of the month). The format combines the cinema experience with low-threshold creative practice: visitors are invited to bring their own hobby and engage in it during a film from the regular programme – for example, drawing, knitting, crocheting, crafting or solving a Rubik’s Cube. The lights in the auditorium are deliberately dimmed to enable collaborative creativity in the cinema and create a focused, open atmosphere. The only rules: the hobby must not cause any dirt, noise or distracting light and should only take up one cinema seat.
- Krimibingo: Austrian crime films to puzzle over will be shown six times a year. Dates: 12 March / 16 April / 11 June / 17 September / 29 October / 26 November
- Bring your Hobby to the Cinema: Watch a film and knit, write, draw, solve Rubik’s Cubes, etc. at the same time (First time 4 March 2026)
- CT Specials: Film specials, short films, interactive events (First time 8 March 2026)
