Edith Temmel combines language and images with expressive vitality to create philosophical landscapes, which she presents in the form of prints as a tribute to Thoreau’s WALDEN. Especially in times like ours, when the earth is fighting for survival, when excess is turning African beaches into rubbish dumps and profits are being made from the machinery of war, this considered ‘modesty’ is a valuable approach. In her artistic exploration of Walden, Edith Temmel combines her synaesthetic approach – the colourful voices of the forest – with the spiritual dimension of Thoreau’s text.
