The Human Rights Film Festival Berlin (HRFFB) screens international documentaries about human rights and the people who stand up for them. The 2026 edition is themed ‘Where Stories Fight Back’ and counters the growing tide of disinformation, hate and populist narratives with the power of storytelling – a clear signal to strengthen solidarity and drive change. This year’s programme opens with the Austrian production: Yanuni – The Voice of the Amazon by Richard Ladkani. Juma Xipaia, an Indigenous leader from the Brazilian Amazon, joins the director in telling her story of the struggle for the Amazon and Indigenous rights. Xipaia fights tirelessly against the destruction of the rainforest, navigating between death threats and motherhood, between the depths of the Amazon and the politics of Brazil.
