The Viennese gambist Christoph Urbanetz is one of the most distinguished performers of Baroque and Renaissance music. He has made a name for himself internationally through his innovative approaches to the historical repertoire and collaborations with leading figures such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Cecilia Bartoli and Giovanni Antonini. As a specialist in Marin Marais, he combines artistic excellence with scholarly depth – not least through his teaching and his PhD at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. As part of the El Aleph Festival – UNAM’s Festival of Art and Science, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2026, Urbanetz will perform two programmes: Georg Philipp Telemann’s 12 Fantasies for Viola da Gamba, and a musical journey from Versailles to London featuring works by Marais, Forqueray, Abel and others. Under the motto “New Narratives”, the festival builds bridges between the arts, sciences and humanities, inviting audiences to discover new forms of thinking and storytelling.
