The Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. With its packed programme, it is regarded as the world’s largest and most prestigious festival dedicated to Franz Schubert. Since 1976, the world’s leading stars of lieder, piano and chamber music have been performing here for an international audience, guided by a clear mission: “to present the works of Franz Schubert in an intimate setting in an exemplary manner”. The Schubertiade has remained steadfastly true to this vision of its founder, Hermann Prey. To this day, the extensive oeuvre of Franz Schubert remains at the centre of attention, with recitals, piano recitals and chamber concerts forming the core of the programme. The programme is complemented by works by other composers, primarily Schubert’s predecessors, contemporaries and successors.
