Stefan Reiterer’s artistic practice revolves around a fundamental question: What is space – and how can it be represented, transformed and reimagined? He moves with great ease between digital processes, analogue methods and architectural thinking. Digital maps, CNC-milled forms or 3D-printed elements are reworked in a painterly manner and transferred into analogue space – the technical becomes the starting point for the sensory. In large-scale installations, Reiterer transforms exhibition spaces into architecturally restructured spaces of experience. The exhibition title ‘level’ refers to the measurable and perceptible difference in level within the premises of Bildraum Bodensee. The artist addresses the architectural conditions through a linearly expanding series of painted 3D prints, which become increasingly distorted with each step of enlargement, thereby progressively warping the view of Bregenz visible on them.
