‘Sonne oben links’ (Interface: Sun top left) is a week-long artistic programme organised by Malwerkstatt Graz in collaboration with Ulrike Grossarth as curator and René Corvaia-Koch as artistic assistant.
The title playfully references standardised vision and learned visual language. It alludes to schematic visual arrangements, recognisable compositional patterns and the culturally ingrained expectation of how an image might be ‘correctly’ constructed.
In Schaumbad, artists with disabilities develop a self-contained workspace that is rearranged daily, thereby offering a fresh experience. This self-contained nature serves to intensify the creative process and enables an artistic workspace whose dynamics are not immediately translated into explanation, mediation or consumability.
