She is regarded as one of the most exciting young painters working today – Georgia Gardner Gray, an artist born in New York in 1988. She transforms the everyday into precisely observed and surprisingly unsettling compositions, drawing on cultural symbols that span from prehistoric times to the digital realm. Inspired by pop culture and art history, Gray reveals the contradictions of today’s world through the absurd staging of her images. With subtle wit and precise detail, she illustrates just how varied our perceptions of history, art and authenticity can be. In her solo exhibition – curated by Marijana Schneider – she presents a series of new works set within prehistoric stone circles that explore the concept of human and artistic heritage on a grand scale.
