To mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Austrian Embassy and the Cultural Forum Mexico are taking part in the photo exhibition ‘The European Union on the Pitch: An Expression of a Shared Passion’, organised by the EU Delegation in Mexico. The exhibition can be seen along the boulevard Paseo de la Reforma in the heart of Mexico City. The Austrian photograph was taken by photographer Murtaza Elham in Vienna during a football tournament held as part of the ‘Long Day of Flight’. The initiative was launched in 2022 by UNHCR Austria and brings Austrians, refugees and asylum seekers together every year. Through workshops, discussions and sporting events, it fosters encounters, exchange and mutual understanding.
