‘Beyond the Surface’ brings together photographic works that direct our gaze beyond the immediately visible and explore this through a variety of visual languages. The resulting works capture traces of everyday life, fragments of memory and moments of transition, inviting the viewer to look more closely. ‘Blurred’ refers to something hazy, unclear or diffuse, and to dissolving forms that give rise to the abstract. The artists have named their collective this because they take a playful approach to their medium. They are curious, experimental and seek to express feelings, relationships and thoughts through their work.
